Review: You're Boris, a 20-year-old computer freak. Your mother sends you to pay a visit to your uncle. Uncle is a scientist and has lots of cool stuff in his house. Well, you decide to adjust his latest invetion, mattertransformer. And suddenly you're in a different universe. Actually in an anti-matter universe. However, there is a foil on your body which prevents that the atoms in your body don't mix with anti-atoms.
You begin your adventure from Virgan Imperium which is ruled by emperor Neiamises. The people of Virgan are kept in order by violence. The emperor has his own assistant, a super computer which sensors are spread in the whole Imperium. With the super computer the emperor can even predict the future and he see Boris as a threat who must be eliminated. Well, your task is to avoid getting killed and to get back to your own universe.

Universe is actually my first space adventure game which isn't made by Sierra. First of all Universe doesn't have as much humor as Space Quest games (which is probably good for some people). But Universe has a few playable arcade games in a bar just like in Space Quest 3.
Universe's interface tries to be like Sierra's "point-and-click" interface but fails. For example Use-command has a submenu with icons for eating, pushing etc. It's really annoying when you know what you should do but you don't know what command you should use to make the game understand it. What also pissed me off when I played the game was that you have to be exatcly in the right place if you want to speak with someone or pickup stuff from the ground for example. Oh, and you can pickup even useless stuff that you don't need to play through this game and you can't drop anything which makes the inventory grow quite big. The only good thing in Universe's interface is that double clicking makes your character run.

Technically Universe is ok. The graphics don't make you puke and the sounds are average. Although the music clips are too short. The good thing is that music changes quite often.

Overall Universe is an average game - it doesn't have anything special but on the other hand, it isn't the worst adventure game. Personally I didn't like this game and I rather play Space Quest. Well, get the game and test it yourself.
